Positions

  • Public Health Nutrition Consultant II  (Local Agency Support)

    Work directly with local agencies that assist women and children at nutritional risk.  Provide technical assistance to local agencies in an assigned region of the State.  Develop and implement obesity prevention and statewide nutrition initiatives.  Click here for the salary and more details about the position.

  • Public Health Nutrition Consultant II  (Program Evaluation and Policy)

    Develop policies and standards for nutrition assessment and risk determination used by local agencies and perform on-site program evaluations throughout the state. Click here for the salary and more details about the position.

How to apply

The process to apply for a Registered Dietitian position is as follows:

  1. We encourage you to contact us for assistance in guiding you through the process described below.  Please contact Leslie Kaye, M.S. R.D, Unit chief and recruitment coordinator at 916-928-8746 or the main reception number  1-800-852-5770.
  1. Complete the "self assessment" which includes an exam application that will place you on the eligibility list for a job with the State of California. The self assessment may be obtained by contacting Leslie Kaye at the number above.  It will be mailed to you immediately and you can return it in the envelope provided.
  1. Complete the "state employment application" for the position for which you are applying. Click here for the state application. The application may be completed on-line (click here).  You will need to open a free personal account following the process outlined.
  1. Once you are offered a position, you must have a medical provider complete a physical exam using the form provided by your hiring supervisor.
